Under the Stars is a unique sleep-out event in Bangalore, aiming to raise awareness and funds for the homeless. It is the first event for Daan Utsav (the Joy of Giving Week, October 2nd - 8th), and provides NGOs, corporate partners, performers and individuals with a collaborative platform to be involved in a great cause.
Sleeping ‘Under The Stars’ is a romantic concept for one night, but for many children and adults in our city and across India who live without shelter, it is a harsh and very real way of life.
Whilst we do not expect to achieve an understanding of the everyday challenges of a persons life without shelter in just one night, the purpose of this event will be to raise awareness and raise funds for NGOs working toward the protection and service of the homeless.
The idea originated with The Baale Mane Trust in 2013, with RECAL alumni association coming on board as co-organisers. We are also associated with India Cares Foundation, who take care of the event's financial accounts to ensure maximum transparency.
